Safety tips

Kept is for Teesside students buying and selling second-hand. We do our best to keep things smooth, but please use common sense.

For buyers

  • Inspect the item at pickup. No returns once collected.
  • If the item is broken or not as described, refuse pickup and contact us.
  • Don't pay sellers directly — only pay through Kept.
  • Pickup codes are single-use. Don't share them.

For sellers

  • Photograph items clearly in daylight, multiple angles.
  • Be honest about damage, wear, missing parts — it prevents disputes.
  • Don't list anything broken beyond reasonable use.
  • Add your bank details in your account so we can pay you.

What we don't allow

  • Counterfeit branded goods
  • Unsafe electrical items (anything not PAT-tested or visibly damaged)
  • Food, alcohol, vapes, medication
  • Knives, weapons, anything illegal
